FAQs
Getting started
What is OrbitAI?
OrbitAI is Cropin's AI assistant. Ask it about your farms, crops, and operations in plain language to get summaries, comparisons, and recommendations drawn from the data you're permitted to access.
How do I add or set up a farm?
On the welcome screen tap Add a new farm, or open the + menu next to the message box and choose Add new farm. Mark the field by drawing its boundary on the map (most accurate) or by uploading a KML, GeoJSON, or Shapefile, then give it a name, crop, season, and sowing date. Once it's saved you can switch on monitoring for crop health, weather and climate risk, satellite greenness/water/nutrient stress, and disease early warnings.
How do I ask about a specific farm?
Tap View my farms on the welcome screen or from the + menu, then pick a farm to attach it to your question. The chosen farm appears as a badge beside the message box and scopes your answers to it.
Asking questions
Can I ask questions by voice?
Yes. Tap the microphone (Dictate) button in the message bar and speak — your words appear in the box as you talk. If nothing happens, allow microphone access for OrbitAI in your browser settings.
Can I attach a location to my question?
Open the + menu and choose Attach Location, then drop a pin, draw an area, or use your current location on the map. The location rides along with your next question.
What are the suggested "related questions"?
After an answer, OrbitAI offers Related questions you might ask as tappable chips. Tap one to ask it straight away, or use the pencil icon to tweak it before sending.
What are Quick asks?
The category cards on the welcome screen — and Quick asks in the + menu — are ready-made questions like crop-health summaries and upcoming risks. Tap one to ask it instantly.
Can OrbitAI read an answer out loud?
Yes. Tap Read aloud beneath any answer. A player appears with pause, rewind and forward a sentence at a time, playback speed, and a choice of voices. If you don't see the button, your browser doesn't support speech — try Chrome, Edge, or Safari.
Crop disease
How do I check a plant for disease?
Three ways in: the camera icon in the top bar, the Analyze crop disease card on the welcome screen, or Analyze crop disease in the + menu. Take or choose a photo of the affected plant, optionally say which crop it is, and tap Analyze. The answer arrives in the chat in about ten seconds, and finishes even if you close the tab and come back.
What makes a good photo?
Fill the frame with the affected leaf, in good light and without deep shadow — close enough that the spots or discolouration are sharp. JPEG, PNG, and WebP are accepted up to 15 MB, and photos are resized before sending, so a large one from your camera is fine. Naming the crop is optional but makes the read more precise.
What does the diagnosis show me?
A card with your photo, the most likely disease, and the other candidates ranked beneath it. When nothing's wrong it says Looks healthy; when the evidence is thin it says Not conclusive or lists several possibilities rather than committing to a wrong answer. If the photo held it back, it tells you why — blurry, too dark, or taken from too far away.
Can I ask follow-up questions about a diagnosis?
Yes — the diagnosis is a normal part of the conversation. Tap a suggested follow-up such as What should I spray?, How serious is this?, or What should I watch for?, or just type your own. The card stays in your session history, photo included.
It says my photo isn't a crop, or that it couldn't tell
If no plant was found in the picture, tap Choose another photo and try one that's mostly leaf. If the read simply failed, your photo was fine — tap Analyze again. Either button reopens the dialog ready for a fresh photo.
Chats & feedback
How do I download or print a chat?
Tap Download PDF in the top bar (or from the session menu on mobile) to print or save the current conversation, maps included.
How do I start a new chat or find past ones?
Tap New Session to begin a fresh chat, and Session history to browse, search, rename, or delete earlier conversations.
How do I give feedback for a message or copy an answer?
Use the thumbs-up / thumbs-down buttons beneath any answer to give feedback — thumbs-down lets you add an optional note. The copy button on each answer copies its text to your clipboard.
Coverage & requests
My crop isn't in the list — what now?
Ask us to add it. When a search turns up nothing, the crop picker offers Request this crop with what you typed carried across; Crop missing? Request it at the foot of the picker does the same at any time. Either one opens a short form addressed to the product team.
My region isn't covered — can I ask for it?
Yes. Sourcing roles see the countries, crops, and states covered today when the role is activated, and Don't see your region? at the end of that list sends us the market you source from. We use these requests to decide what to add next.
How do I suggest something else?
Open the Settings gear and choose Enquiries to share any area you'd like OrbitAI to cover — a region, a crop, a topic — or to reach the product and business team with a question.
Settings & account
How do I switch between light and dark mode?
Tap the sun / moon toggle in the top bar. On mobile, use Dark mode inside the Settings menu.
How do I change my role?
Open the Settings gear in the top bar and choose Change role to switch the assistant's persona (for example Farmer or Agronomist) so answers are tailored to you.
How do I find my session ID for support?
Double-click the OrbitAI logo at the top of the app to copy your session ID (you'll see a "Session ID copied!" confirmation). Paste it into your support email so we can look up the exact conversation.
Why can't I see certain farms or data?
OrbitAI only shows data your role and platform permissions allow. If something's missing, ask your organization administrator to review your access.
Privacy
Is my chat private?
Your conversations are handled under Cropin's data terms. See the Terms & Conditions for how OrbitAI uses your data.
